Picking games this year feels so much harder. Maybe the lack of a preseason…or maybe the glut of injuries early on. Either way, I flat out stink.

I went out on a limb before the season and picked the Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC. I felt that way in the spring, pre-COVID…there was something about Dak Prescott proving himself in a contract year for a new Super Bowl-winning coach that appealed to me. And then Sunday happened…

For a while the NFL looked to be invincible from COVID-19. But in the span of a few days last week, an outbreak in Tennessee happened, a game was cancelled, and many questions were raised.

My lock of the year, Ravens over Chiefs? Whoops…
Doesn’t look like there’s a Super Bowl hangover this year. In what most people, including myself, thought would be the game of the year on Monday night…well, it wasn’t. The Chiefs outclassed the Ravens from start to finish.

Week 2 of the NFL was…absolute carnage. Big name players dropped like flies…and no, I’m not solely blaming the MetLife Stadium turf (for all of the 49ers issues).

DON’T OVERREACT TO WEEK 1! I say it every year like clockwork…but unfortunately, considering there was no 2020 preseason, separating truths from falsehoods proves tougher.

This is without a doubt the least surprising thing I’ll say in this column…but the 2020-21 is going to be weird. I mean, it already is weird. No preseason games…very little hype…and even fewer major stories to look out for as the season begins this week. It’s like an alternate universe in some ways.
