It’s been a long, strange journey to where I’m at today…but I wouldn’t change any of it. From TV to radio to sports betting back to TV / podcasts, I’ve gotten a chance to work with some incredible people in my career to date. And heck, I’m only 42 so many more years to come hopefully.
After giving sports radio a shot in college, including play-by-play (yes, the audio is terrible and yes, even though that was 2004, Nick Folk is still kicking in the NFL today), I hoped to work in sports at some point in my career.
In 2010, while serving at the Program Director at KAZT-TV in Phoenix, I had a chance to make my sports TV debut as a guest with the legendary Pat McMahon. For the next six years, I got a chance to guest and host segments / shows which helped refine my skills.

A few years later, I ended up as a daily sports radio host on 1580 The Fanatic in the Phoenix and did that all the way through COVID in 2020. A lot of the older posts on this blog were from those days.
In 2021, I was given the opportunity to work a dream job of sorts at Caesars Sportsbook as the State GM in Arizona when mobile sports betting launched in the state. But after nine months, the job was no longer the right fit and I made the jump to SportsLine.
For the next 3.5 years, it was a whirlwind of sorts doing my day job as Audience Acquisition Manager while ending up on-air on daily Early Edge podcasts. First it was Early Edge in 5 led by the great Jonathan Coachman, who I am fortunate became an on-air mentor for me. If it wasn’t for one fateful show in May 2023, where I won a bet with Coach, I likely never would’ve gotten the chance to host on SportsLine, which was one of the best things I’ve ever gotten a chance to do.

From there, I had the chance to host shows such as Early Wedge, the Early Edge College Football Picks Show (on CBS Sports Network), and the Early Edge NFL Props Show between 2023-2025.

In all, I did 358 podcast shows for them, hosting well over 100. To be able to work on-air with such talented people such as Coach, Sia Nejad, Dave Richard, Alex Selesnick, Patrick McDonald, Jason Sobel, Chip Patterson, Emory Hunt, Mike McClure, Allan Bell, Jason Spector and more was a true thrill. While these shows weren’t part of my day job, they sure checked off a few things from my life’s bucket list! Plus, my picks were featured on SportsLine and CBS Sports’ social media!
And then there’s Wildcat Country. When I gave up sports radio in 2020, I wanted to stay in the game of sorts, so I reached out to a friend, Shane Dale, to fire up an Arizona Wildcats podcast he had co-hosted on sports radio with another buddy, Jeff Dean. In the middle of COVID, in August 2020, we created the new Wildcat Country podcast which is still going today. We’re nearly 300 episodes strong and hopefully many more. It’s my therapy for celebrating the great wins and suffering through the painful losses of my alma mater’s sports teams. We’ve had well over 200 unique guests on the show and it’s been one of the most fulfilling hobbies I’ve ever been a part of in my life.
(R.I.P. Bill, one of the true great characters in sports media for so many years in addition to being a Hall of Famer as a player.)
As much as I love working in the sports / sports betting space on-and-off-the-air, if I’m to move on to other areas, I’m just grateful to have had the chance and to have succeeded.
As I’ve always done on this blog, I hope you’ll enjoy my random sports ramblings and predictions in addition to whatever else is on my mind at the time.
