5 Quick Thoughts on Week 8
1. The Raiders went to Kansas City and pulled a stunner the other week. Nice bounce back spot for a potential playoff team against a Browns team without three of their top four offensive weapons.

2. I’m picking the Packers to cover the touchdown spread at home on Sunday vs. the Vikings but I wouldn’t bet it for two reasons: 1. Minnesota is coming off a bye and star RB Dalvin Cook should be healthy…2. Division game revenge angle from Week 1’s embarrassing Packers blowout. I’m picking the Packers to cover with my heart, not my head this week.

3. I’m going back to Baltimore for my ‘Bet Your House’ play. In Week 3 they let me down by getting dominated at home vs. Kansas City. I have a strong feeling that the Steelers’ undefeated season comes crashing down with a rather humiliating road loss to the rested and angry Ravens.

4. I have no interest in watching two very lousy teams face off on Sunday Night Football. If the Cowboys don’t have Andy Dalton and instead go with this Ben DiNucci fella, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were shut out this week. Mike McCarthy HAS to be on the hot season in Big D. (For the purposes of my prediction above, I’m assuming Dalton finds a way to play).

5. I have a sneaky feeling that the Giants put a scare into those survivor pick players who choose the road Buccaneers this weekend. ‘Danny Dimes’ played a lot better last week, despite his infamous wide open run stumble, and even though the Bucs defense has been rock solid lately, I expect the offense to struggle without Chris Godwin and a hobbled Mike Evans. AB can’t get there soon enough.

  1. I’m not seeing much difference in the college picks this week. one crazy person (Eric) is picking Auburn over LSU; he’ll be behind one more game in the SU picks this week. Like most of the experts, I do not believe Texas A&M will cover the -11.5 points.
As for the NFL, oh boy, I’m already one more came up on you Eric, I picked the Falcons. The other games I have opposite of your picks are:
    1. Browns over Raiders (I watch the Raiders every week and cheer for them), penalties will beat the Raiders.
    2. Steelers over Ravens (Big Ben is due to rebound and this division game will motivate him)
    3. Broncos over Chargers (Broncos won my coin flip), how’s that for a reason?
As for your “quick thoughts on week 8”:
1, Browns, without certain weapons, will function more like a football team this week.
    3. I hope you and everybody that follows your “Bet Your House play” have strong cardboard boxes you can move into after the Steelers win this week.
Good stuff as always. Even when I go against a few things each week, I still enjoy the read.

    1. Thanks for the picks as always, Papa Mike…I’m confident I’ll go at least 2-1 in the NFL picks we differed on. And Auburn needs this game more than LSU…and I think they’ll get it at home!
